UCSD Certification Program

Earn academic credit towards Professional Certification while attending the Embedded Systems Conference (ESC) Boston 2008.

Building on the success of ESC Boston 2007 and ESC Silicon Valley 2008, attendees at the Embedded Systems Conferences Boston 2008 can earn university credits through an innovative global partnership between the University of California, San Diego, Extension and TechInsights.

UC San Diego, Extension educates about 40,000 people a year through innovative local, corporate and online programs. Extension is recognized nationally and internationally for linking the public to expert professionals and the knowledge resources of the University of California.

All ESC sessions have undergone an extensive review and approval process by UC San Diego - Extension prior to offering credit's to attendees, adding world-class academic rigor to the technical content.

Here's how it works:

How can continuing education units be applied?

 

    • Enhance your resume
    • Stand out as a more competitive job candidate
    • Apply up to 6 units of credit to two Embedded Engineering Certificate  Programs at UC San  Diego, Extension:

    - Embedded Computer Engineering
    - Embedded Computer Software
    • Apply towards other related University of California, Extension certificate programs


How do you earn continuing education units?

 

    • Attend ESC technical program classes or tutorials
      - All conference sessions are eligible.
      - A minimum of 6 hours of session attendance is required to earn 0.5 units of credit. You can do this in any combination. Be sure to document which sessions you attend.

    • Enroll online at UC San Diego, Extension
      - Visit the Embedded Conference Webpage
      - Click the "Enroll Now" link - Proceed through the enrollment process - Pay fee of $25 (per 0.5 units)

    • Evaluation
      - Submit a 250 word essay on each session attended
      - Email essay to the Program Representative in the Engineering department at UC San Diego, Extension.
      - The essay will then be graded by a faculty advisor.
      - Once grade is assigned, credit will be awarded
