The processor vendors spend significant resources to ensure that their products perform admirably at low power levels, yet board and system designers fail to take advantage of all the hooks available to them. This track will describe those hooks, and show how they should be implemented, including digital power systems.
The direct result of expending too much power in your system is that there's excess heat to deal with. This track will look at the various methods of dealing with that heat. One specific area that'll be covered includes how to handle the thermal issues of a multi-core processor.
System-Level & Backplane-Supply Power Issues This track looks at powering the system above the component level, including hot swap and sequencing, power-supply testing and forensics, and architecting an efficient power-supply train.
This track examines circuit issues such as modeling consumption, buck/boost regulators, digital power control, FPGA and SoC power, green design, multiple-voltage design, and power-circuit timing.
